International in reach but local in service, this forward-thinking Consulting Civil and Structural Engineering firm are actively looking to appoint a Principal Bridge Engineer to join their Rail team in Birmingham. Their expertise in Highway and Rail Bridge design and maintenance has long been recognised and forms the cornerstone of their business. However the company offer a complete range of services to their clients within The Built and Infrastructure Construction sectors.Responsibilities• Lead a team of Bridge Engineers and AutoCAD Technicians• Undertake Rail Bridge and Civil Structures concept and detailed design • Check calculations prepared by Structural/ Bridge Engineers and Graduates • Undertake Rail Bridge and Civil Structures assessments and appraisals • Project Manage concurrent Rail Infrastructure – Civil Structures projects • Effectively manage own time across a portfolio of projects • Assist the Design Manager with preparation of bids and contract documentation • Delivery of Rail Infrastructure (Civils) projects on time and to budget • Liaise effectively with Project Managers, Design Managers and Design Engineers • Develop ongoing relationships with other professionals • Build relations with Network Rail and identify business opportunities Requirements• CEng ICE or CEng IStructE• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral • Leadership and supervision of a Civils design team within a Rail environment • Demonstrable Bridge and Civil Structures design and assessment • Civil Structures Project Design Management and Site Supervision experience • Liaison with Network Rail and sound knowledge of DMRB design standards • Sufficient experience in Structural Engineering and/or Bridge Engineering • Use of Structural analysis and Project Management software • The ability to work within budget and control costs Last updated 17 June, 2010 |
